Rev Up Your Adventure: A Closer Look at Mitsubishi Motors Philippines’ Go Beyond Limits Tour in Davao City

One of things I look forward to when checking out a new car is testing out its features. Last March 8-10, 2024, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) took the scenic route to celebrate Araw ng Dabaw with an exhilarating 3-day event – the Go Beyond Limits Tour in Davao City.

Attendees were treated to an unforgettable experience; from meeting their favorite social media celebrities to experiencing the unparalleled capabilities of the All-New Mitsubishi Triton.

Here’s What I Liked About The All-New Mitsubishi Triton:

1. Classic Pickup Aesthetic: Mitsubishi’s newest pickup, the Triton, boasts a classic, boxy exterior that screams rugged and adventure-friendly. This isn’t just a pretty face – it’s a workhorse designed for the challenges of both urban and off-road landscapes. It’s not just about looking good; it’s about getting the job done.

2. Spacious Interior: Step inside the Triton, and you’ll find a surprisingly spacious interior. While some pickup trucks may have a massive exterior but feels cramped within, the Triton offers ample legroom, providing a comfortable ride for both the driver and his/her passengers.

3. Top-Notch Tech: Not pretending to be an expert here, but the Triton’s tech features are too interesting not to mention: a large display screen, an efficient 360 camera, and a range of top-notch features make this pickup a technological marvel. And the best part? It doesn’t cost what you’d expect it to with pricing ranging from 1.1M to 1.9M.

4. Test-Drive Adventure: This wasn’t your average test drive – it was an adventure course. From turn maneuvers to testing traction control, tackling moguls, climbing hills, and assessing approach and departure angles, the Triton’s capabilities were put to the test. It wasn’t just about driving; it was about experiencing the Triton’s true capabilities. And while I would have loved to test this baby off-road or on an actual roadtrip, the course prepared by Mitsubishi at SM Lanang Premier did the job.

5. All-Inclusive Hospitality: The Go Beyond Limits Tour at SM Lanang Premier was not just about test drives; it was an event for car enthusiasts, prospective buyers, and fans. The atrium housed an impressive display, while the outdoor test drive track provided an adrenaline-pumping experience. After the drive, participants were treated to a complimentary drink and could indulge in games at the Taralets Pinas booth. With over 20 knowledgeable agents on-site, getting to know the cars and possibly reserving one became an even more enjoyable experience.

A Fusion of Adventure and Culture:

The Go Beyond Limits Tour wasn’t just about cars; it was a celebration of exploration and discovery. The Taralets Pinas! campaign, a nationwide initiative by MMPC, encourages Filipinos to rediscover the hidden gems of the Philippines. It’s a perfect match with the All-New Mitsubishi Triton, a vehicle designed to empower drivers to explore the diverse landscapes and rich cultures of the country.

Meet the Faces of Adventure:

Adding a touch of star power to the event, the Bisaya Squad, Bb. Pilipinas International 2022 Nicole Borromeo, Chito Samontina, Boy Pimple, and Bite King were present, sharing the excitement and celebrating the joy of the open road.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines is not just selling cars; they’re selling experiences.

The Go Beyond Limits Tour has set a new standard, proving that the journey is just as important as the destination. So, rev up your adventure, embrace the thrill, and let Mitsubishi Motors Philippines take you beyond limits!

Introducing the ultimate Go Hotels experience in the Metro with Go Hotels Mandaluyong

Go Hotels, the essential service hotel chain known for providing travelers with comfort and convenience, boasts seven strategically-located properties across the metropolis, ensuring that guests can enjoy an ideal stay whether for business or leisure.

In a dynamic city where time is of the essence and convenience reigns supreme, Go Hotels has positioned itself as the beacon of hassle-free travel. Each of the seven strategically-located properties across the metro has been meticulously crafted to epitomize a harmonious blend of modernity and comfort.

“Metro Manila is a city that pulsates with life, and Go Hotels is your gateway to experiencing its vibrant energy. Nestled within bustling neighborhoods, our hotels provide easy access to a myriad of attractions, from historic landmarks to world-class dining and entertainment options” said Joy De Mesa, Group Director of Sales and Marketing of Robinsons Hotel and Resorts.

Here are the seven different properties across metro Manila:

  • Go Hotels Otis-Manila: Located in the heart of Manila, this property is a haven for travelers. Its prime location is near Chinatown, the presidential museum and other historical churches. This makes it an excellent choice for those looking for both work and leisure opportunities. Guests can unwind in the supremely comfortable and high-quality beds that Go Hotels is known for. With the hotel right beside the Robinsons Mall and just 45 minutes away from the airport, convenience is guaranteed.
  • Go Hotels North Edsa: Situated ideally for business travelers and leisure seekers, Go Hotels North Edsa is within a 10-minute walk to prime malls and restaurants. Its close proximity to government offices in Quezon City and accessibility to major public transport options make it a smart choice for urban dwellers.
  • Go Hotels Mandaluyong: As the pioneer property along EDSA, Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare, Go Hotels Mandaluyong is a mere 30-45 minutes away from the airport and within walking distance to the MRT Boni Station and all public utility vehicles, ensuring easy access to the city’s attractions.
  • Go Hotels Timog-Quezon City: Nestled along Timog Avenue, Quezon City, this hotel is surrounded by key government offices, top television networks, universities, medical centers, and commercial establishments. Timog is also a popular entertainment and dining strip, making it an ideal location for both business and leisure travelers.
  • Go Hotels Ortigas Center: Serving the needs of working travelers and tourists, Go Hotels Ortigas Center is strategically located near malls and business hubs, less than an hour’s drive from the airport, ensuring guests can easily access the city’s attractions.
  • Go Hotels Ermita-Manila: Situated along Mabini Street, Go Hotels Ermita-Manila caters to both domestic and international travelers, offering convenience for business and leisure purposes. The hotel’s advantageous location is near key places of interest, embassies, convention centers, recreational parks, ferry ports, and commercial establishments. It’s just 10km away from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
  • Go Hotels Manila Airport Road: Located in Pasay City, this hotel is the perfect choice for travelers on the go. Its 10 to 15-minute drive to and from Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 4 ensures stress-free travel. Moreover, its strategic location offers easy access to popular shopping and lifestyle hubs, dining, entertainment, and gaming destinations in Metro Manila.

In my most recent trip to the Metro, I stayed at Go Hotels Mandaluyong. The trip was for a foodtrip in Binondo, a meet-up with a friend, and some work in QC. Since I work as a digital marketing strategist, I’m able to work remotely anytime. Go Hotels’ Mandaluyong property provided strong and steady internet that allowed me to stay connected and reachable in case my business needed me. The huge lobby and wide hallways made it feel luxe, despite being a budget hotel.

We stayed for two days and it was a super chill, seamless, and absolutely comfortable experience. We were also able to try their breakfast meals; the adobo and Salisbury steak. Both dishes were hearty as well as tasty. We were even too full for our Binondo Foodtrip!

In terms of location, the Go Hotels Mandaluyong property was perfect for us. We went to Salcedo Village in Makati, BGC, Binondo, and the airport and we were able to easily Grab from there.

The pillows were also super fluffy and (my friend can vouch for this) after a day of walking around the city, I was knocked out in less than 10 minutes!

Go, Go, Go this 2023!

Tong San Ribs & Ramen Launches in Davao at the Davao Global Township Weekend Market

Ahh, ribs and ramen. Just the combination of the words alone makes your mouth water.

Imagine being able to have them at the same time?

Last weekend, Davao Global Township opened with a DGT Weekend Market and DGT Festival. The DGT Weekend Market is set to open weekly from Thursdays to Sundays and features some of Davao’s best homegrown businesses.

Of course, festivals like these are also the best way to introduce something new to the market. Ribs & Ramen owner JP Santiago made sure to take advantage of Davao’s growing food scene to do so. The business had previously conquered the taste of Manileños but being a Davaoeño at heart, JP knew he should let try conquering his hometown as well.

And conquer, the business did.

We visited the stall on the second day of the Weekend Market and were both impressed and shocked at the crowd surrounding it. You know the food’s good when there’s an unwavering line or crowd around it.

When you think about ramen, you think about the hearty broth, the chewy and decadent noodles that absorbed flavor, and of course, the slab of meat that comes with each bowl. Davao has its fair share of great ramen. However, there is variety to cater to the city’s diverse palate.

Ramen

Ribs and Ramen’s ramen was created with the Japanese taste in mind. I was able to try the Tantanmen Ramen and while it wasn’t as spicy as I expected it to be, the broth is something I still think about— one week later. The broth was absolutely decadent and is exactly what you’d want your ramen to feel like: a warm hug. The noodles were cooked to perfection; not too hard nor too soggy. They had the right chew that you’d expect from hand-pulled noodles and served as the perfect vehicle for the broth and the meat to come together. One thing that stood out to me was the size of the meat. Where there would be a measly thin slice of pork lay a slab of hefty meat. The meat was so savory and tender, too. (As I’m typing this all down, I am thinking about dropping by again later, LOL.)

Ribs & Ramen’s ramen is supplied from Yummy Tokyo Davao, a Japanese food supplier in Davao. They also sell ramen kits that allow you to enjoy authentic ramen anytime at the comfort of your home.

Now let’s talk about the ribs.

Before I start praising the ribs, I have to note that they actually posted how they sold more fall-off-the-bone ribs here in Davao than they ever did in Cavite. That’s insane! They’d only been here for four days! If that isn’t a testament to how much Davao loves their ribs, here’s my take:

The ribs were very tasty and tender. The meat was clearly marinated well and didn’t really taste as ketchup-y as some. It was juicy, well-seasoned, and while my order that night didn’t exactly fall off the bone, it completely broke apart with just a plastic fork. That’s tender, for you.

By the looks of it, Davao is loving Ribs & Ramen. And they’re not going anywhere! They’ll be opening a branch soon but don’t wait that long!

If you haven’t tried it for yourself, head on over to the Davao Global Township Weekend Market to try Ribs and Ramen Davao, today, June 1, to June 4, 2023.

Trying Out 12 Dishes from 12 of the Best Chefs in the Philippines: Chefs on Tour

Last Thursday, April 13, 2023, guests were treated to an absolutely gastronomic feast at the Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation in Davao De Oro for Chefs On Tour, the hotel chain’s first-of-its-kind two-day event where 12 of the best chefs in the country prepared 12 indulgent, fresh, and delectable dishes for their attendees. I was lucky to be invited and pleasantly enjoyed the night.

The roster of chefs was from LTB Philippines Chefs Association, an organization of culinary enthusiasts that promote Filipino cuisine and talents all over the world, namely: Chef James Antolin (Ikomai, Tochi desserts), Chef Sau Del Rosario (Sawsaw, Café Fleur), Chef Tom Bascon (M Dining), Chef Buddy Trinidad (Park Avenue Desserts), Chef Josh Boutwood (Helm, The Test Kitchen, Savage, Ember), Chef Gilbert Pangilinan (Kai, Cerveseria, The Blue Room, Manila House), Chef Jackie Ang Po (Fleur de Lys), Chef Carlo Miguel (Cloud Eats), Chef Tatung Sathou (Lore, Tatung’s, Azadore), Chef J Brando Santos and Chef Kenneth Cacho (Unilever Food Solutions Philippines). Lastly, Dusit’s very own executive chef Piya Suthasiri joined the line-up, bringing his vast experience around Asia and his signature approach to innovating Thai dishes.

The two-day event began at Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation Resort and we were treated to a beautiful sunset view while indulging ourselves. The night began when multi-awarded broadcaster Ces Orena-Drilon introduced the renowned chefs & their respective dishes for the night and prepared everyone for Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation CEO Tomas Lorenzo‘s welcome speech, where he stated, “We wanted to create this event because we at Dusit Davao do things out of the box. We do interesting events that would really change the landscape of dining, of entertainment.”

And “out of the box” they did. I couldn’t believe how seamless and relaxing the entire night felt. It might have been the Davao de Oro breeze or the way they artfully decorated the event but it seemed as if we welcomed the Summer season that very night. The dishes were accompanied by an abundance of beverages ranging from mocktails to a variety of spirits, making it impossible to not have any fun at all. Plus, the food was to die for. To. Die. For.

In his welcome message, General Manager Christoph Kuch also said, “Chefs on Tour is a culinary experience like no other, and we are proud that Dusit Davao has made it happen. We are honored to be in the presence of world-renowned Chefs sharing their expertise and passion, which shall all translate on tonight’s menu.”

We were given a little booklet we could have chefs stamp once we were done with their station. It made the evening feel even more relaxed as it entailed people socializing as they partook in the dishes the chefs prepared. Thus, the night was made even more colorful with camaraderie through conversations. While the entire night is etched in gastronomic heaven, I particularly enjoyed two dishes:

Chef James Antolin’s Ikomai Tuna Taco was the first on my list to try and when I did, I was floored by how much I loved it. I am usually not one to enjoy sriracha but it was a welcome flavor that elevated the combination of the ahi tuna, ikura, spring onions, and Japanese rice. It was definitely filling, though. This one, out of all the dishes, was the one I think I craved for most after the event.

Another dish that took my heart was Chef Carlo Miguel’s Braised US Angus Short Ribs with parmesan polenta and herbs gremolata. While short ribs are known to be tougher than other premium cuts of meat, this dish was absolutely tender. I was using disposable wooden cutlery and yet it fell apart completely. Don’t even get me started on the gremolata. The dish was hearty and incredibly indulgent.

The night was capped off by an incredible fire dance. Overall, the night was a perfect welcome to the Summer season. It’s amazing how we can now experience events like these in Mindanao, let alone Davao. Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation and Dusit Thani Davao truly know their soirees. I unfortunately was not able to attend the second day held at DusitD2 Davao but know that the night was likewise a success.

Dusit Davao holds First-ever Beer & Pool Fest with San Miguel Beer

 PRESS RELEASE

dusitD2 Davao and Dusit Thani Residence Davao partners with leading beverage brand San Miguel Beer on its very first beer and pool festival, matched with performances from international and local artists.

Dusit Davao pumps up the month of November with an exciting two-day event, co-presented by San Miguel Beer. The Beer and Pool Festival, held last November 4 and 5, highlights both traditional German Oktoberfest and the contemporary Filipino celebrations through performances from an international duo and a local band.

In his welcome message, GM Christoph Kuch expresses, “It is good to finally celebrate beer festivals! What’s unique about the way we do it in Dusit is the merging of cultures for this event. With Oktoberfest originating from Germany and has evolved versions around the world, it would be a refreshing night of good times and good company. We are grateful to San Miguel Beer and our entertainment partners.”

I, along with friends with media and Davao Digital Influencers, enjoyed the night’s feast, music, and the pool. Zweisam Together brought so much fun energy to the night and had us all on our feet at the end of the night, dancing and singing to classics from Abba and Kool & the Gang. I loved how fun and light the vibe was that night and look forward to more events from Dusit like these. Gotta say, though, they’re the only ones who have made me dance in front of people at an event. Haha!

As usual, Dusit’s menu for the night was nothing short of spectacular. They provided a grilling station where guests can order grilled seafood, pork, or even sausages. San Miguel provided great drinks that definitely livened up the night.

The weekend event had Zweisam Together and Midnight Blues as its performers in alternate sets. Svenja and Jo, the duo behind Zweisam Together are from Germany, and has started to tour the world since 2017. They have held concerts and parties throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Mallorca, Ibiza, London, Beijing, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Saigon, Laos and Australia. A young band from the Davao region, Midnight Blues added flavor to the event with their music.

Dusit’s culinary prowess were also showcased during the event, with new Executive Chef Piya Suthasiri leading the team. A grilling station with famous German sausages and meats were available, sealing the entire beer fest vibe. Other signatures like the cochinillo and pork belly roll were a hit as well, along with the wide array of cheese, nuts, breads, seafood, main dishes, and desserts.

Raffle prizes from dining, spa, to accommodation were given away for guests to enjoy. Director of F&B Ryan Dela Cueva says, “We are happy to give Dabawenyos a well-deserved treat, and we are more delighted to have San Miguel with us for this year’s Beer Fest. Our holiday offers will even be more exciting and will definitely be something to look forward to.”
