If you’ve been following me on social media, you would probably know that I recently did a small “room renovation” for one of the empty rooms here at the house. I was bunking with my little sister for a while there and I remember only having my own room for about 2 years. I started cleaning up the room in September but only started truly moving things around in February, just in time for my birthday.

Before

This is what the room used to look like; bare, with some drilling holes and leftovers from the previous room changes. I was having trouble thinking of the cost of changing the entire room would be. The walls were a lot of work and I wanted to repaint them. However, I, being the indecisive girl that I am, had a hard time choosing a good color or concept because I was sure that I wanted to put brick stickers around but I also wanted an accent wall.

Aside from that concern, I also had a specific idea for my bed. I always liked the idea of bunk beds and we always had bunkbeds. Since this new room had a higher ceiling that our last bedroom, I opted to do a loft bed type of design and initially wanted to put my workspace below it. However, as I thought harder about it, I chose to put my closet space and vanity below it instead. In order for me to have the loft bed I wanted, a lot of things had to happen: I had an existing bunkbed in the room but it needed to be disassembled and then reassembled and welded into the design I wanted. I had the help of my friend and dad make my concept come to life.

Once the walls and the bed was done, the floors had to be cleaned out. I bought a mesh cleaner and a ton of floor cleaner to scrub the floors and they were okay for the most part. The next thing I had to worry about were where I was going to place my clothes and my other items. Then, my work table was completely essential, as well. I also had my own internet connection installed to make sure I had stable internet all the time for my job.

After

Once I had done all the necessary and super tedious changes to the walls and the bed frame, all I had to worry about was the decor, my air con, fan, and lighting. I went to Ace Hardware and purchased a new lightbulb that was 20 watts, and then slowly bought my furniture. I bought my clothes drawers, electric fan, and organizers from The SM Store. I bought my air con from an Air Con store in Bacaca. I also bought a ton of room decor/ essential items from Shopee. I posted about my Shopee Haul here. I also bought some hooks, wire organizers, and adhesives on Shopee.

Here’s my room now:

There’s still a bit of wire organizing to be done but otherwise, I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. The paintings on the wall are my paintings and I have a lot more but I’m not sure where to put them. Overall, I am liking how my space looks and how it makes me feel. Have you guys done any room makeovers over quarantine? Got any organizing tips? Let me know!
