I am one of many unfortunate people who need to use glasses. I started religiously wearing glasses about two years ago, during my review for the board exams. It gets exhausting, though. Although it is tiring to wear, one thing that makes me masipag in wearing them is the overall appearance of the pair.

I’ve been thinking about collecting pairs to match my mood or outfit but the prices of the specs have always been a factor. Eyeglasses always seem to cost around Php 5,000- 15,000.

Last Friday, OWNDAYS, a Japanese eyewear brand, opened its first store in Mindanao at Abreeza Mall. The brand has been expanding with over 30 branches nationwide. I explored their shop and fell in love with most of their pairs. What I liked most about OWNDAYS is how they allow customers choose what they want and even suggest what goes well with each face shape. They also have licensed optometrists prepared to help customers with any questions and even give them their check-ups.

OWNDAYS is known for its all-in-one pricing system and quick 20-minute processing time. I was lucky enough to try their services and I got my new eyeglasses/sunglasses in (true to their word) about 20 minutes.

A pair can range in price from P1, 990 to P6, 990 covered with a one-year limited warranty and lifetime cleaning and mechanical services. Mr. Vohne Yao, the company’s president in the Philippines, said that they are the only brand in the country that offer ultra-thin, multi-coated lenses off the bat (instead of offering them as extras).

The staff was incredibly accomodating; Armand  helped me look for frames that fit my face shape, the colors and the variety of styles that would suit me. Since I already knew my eye grade and was in kind of a rush, I chose to stick to my eye grade since my current pair’s grade weren’t giving me a hard time.

Aside from spoiling us with the glasses, OWNDAYS also hired artists to customize our cases. While most opted for doodles on theirs, I chose a simpler, more Gaelle version:
