In the aspect of art, I’ve always been literary-inclined. I’ve written more essays and poetry than I’ve used a pencil to sketch. This comes as a suprise to some because I come from a family who designs for a living. My grandfather is an architect, my parents have taken architecture and have designed the interior of our home. My mum loves crafts and painting.
I’m not going to lie— I have tried numerous times to practice the art of sketching and drawing. I used to create sketches of my favorite bands. Yet no matter how much I tried, sketching has never been something I’ve excelled in.
Painting, however, is a craft that doesn’t need much precision. Well, it does to an extent but there are other forms of painting that allows the artist to be free of any rules or guidelines. This fact has inspired me to create pieces of my own. I started with watercolour to create backgrounds of my calligraphy (which I still need to practice, btw).
Here are my watercolour pieces:

Forgive my amateur work (haha).
I started getting into Acrylics when I checked out Morning Light in Quirino. My friend Erwin told me about the art supplies they sold. Since it’s only a 5-minute walk from work, I checked it out. It. Was. HEAVEN!!! The place is filled with all the art supplies an artist needs and they organize everything so well. 😍
I came in looking for watercolour paper and came out with a bag filled with new brushes, watercolour and acrylic paint, a couple of 8×10″ canvass, and a ton of watercolour paper. Needless to say, it was one hell of a good art supply haul.
That night I created two acrylic pieces and one watercolour one. The next week, I bought more supplies and created another piece. Here are the acrylic ones:

So, that’s pretty much all my work so far. I think it’s important to practice any craft but with all the work I have, it gets pretty hectic.
What do you think about my work so far? 😂
