Artsy Saturdays

If you rummage through my posts, you’ll see that I have this fascination with calligraphy. I’ve always liked it. The first time I’ve tried typography was in 5th or 6th grade, creating pieces that consisted of angsty lyrics from my favorite bands. Granted, most of the work was dark and full of angst (I had an emo phase, okay?!) but they were still practice. I looked for samples of my earlier work because I was planning to post them here but I saw how cheesy they were so I’m just going to proceed with the point of this whole post.

I was looking through Facebook for workshops and things to do this summer and came across a lot of Calligraphy Workshops. I compared the varied prices and the inclusions and ended up going to the one I thought was most worth it. I was with my friend, Maxine. The workshop was by Dan Zambrano, a nineteen-year-old Atenean student. It was held in FTU Creamery. She taught us basic brush calligraphy, shadowing, and even fake calligraphy.

Here are a few of our work:

After the workshop, Max decided to walk around and take a couple of photos with her Fujifilm X-A10 camera. First we had dinner at Yummy, then walked to The Boardroom.

We went to the Boardroom to talk about a few things and thought about a mini-project this summer. We’ll have to figure stuff out but I will post more details when we’re all prepped for it. That’s it for now.

All the photos from Yummy and The Boardroom were from Max and you can check out her Instagram here!
